Xghajra T-Mdina K 2-1

Xghajra went close early on through Neil Attard whose shot just missed the target. Then Jesmond Azzopardi headed just wide from close range and in the 25th minute a low shot by Lizio Grech was well saved by Sciberras.

The Mdina goalkeeper again did well to foil Jonathan Cachia but they managed to break the deadlock in the 33rd minute through Neil Attard with Sciberras being completely at fault.

A minute before the change of ends Mdina made it one-all as Ayrton Buhagiar beat Camilleri with a well taken free-kick. Xghajra managed to score after just few seconds from the start of the second-half with Jesmond Azzopardi doing all the work with Lizio Grech beating the Mdina custodian from close-range.

Mdina’s immediate reply produced a shot by George Frendo which was excellently saved by Camilleri and then Ayrton Buhagiar hit just wide from the edge of the penalty area.

On 75 minutes Camilleri did well to stop a shot by Buhagiar and a free-kick which was well taken by Joe Debono. Xghajra have made it through to the Promotion Play-Offs.

Ghaxaq-Siggiewi 0-7

Siggiewi took just noine minutes to open the score through Kim Buhagiar and two minutes later they made it 2-0 as Eman Ciappara shot in from close-range following a good move between Mark Camilleri and Kim Buhagiar.

Then efforts by Kim Buhagiar and Eman Ciappara just missed the target and on another occasion a low shot by Mark Camilleri was well saved by Celeste. Ghaxaq’s reply produced efforts by Michael Caruana and Noel Bilocca with the Siggiewi custodian saving with difficulty.

The second period was completely dominated by Siggiewi with Jason Camilleri scoring two goals in the 55th and 70th minute to make it 4-0 and in the 75th minute Eman Ciappara scored a fifth goal with a close-range header.

In the 82nd minute Marlon Vella increased further Siggiewi’s lead and three minutes from time Eman Ciappara notched his hat-trick for Siggiewi’s seventh an final goal.

Zejtun-Zebbug 2-4

After nine minutes Zebbug wasted a clear opportunity through Nazzareno Abela but they managed to break the deadlock in the 11th minute through an opportunistic goal scored by the Rangers’ striker Lawrence Vella.

The Corinthians’ strong reaction produced two dangerous shots by Sergio Schembri and Jean Paul Abela which were excellently saved by the Rangers’ experiened keeper Martin Pace.

At the other end Zebbug created goal scoring opportunities through George Saliba and Errol Cachia. Zebbug assured themselves of the three points with two quick goals in the opening six minutes of the second period.

Trevor Thomas finished off a good move by Vella in the 48th minute to make it 2-0 and three minutes later Lawrence Vella added a third goal following an indecision in the Zejtun defence.

Then the Rangers wasted a clear goal scoring opportunity through Lawrence Vella but they managed to make it 4-0 in the 75th minute through Trevor Thomas’ second goal.

Two minutes later Elton Caruana pulled a goal back for Zejtun when he converted a penalty given for a foul on Jean Paul Abela and in the 81st minute Zejtun were given a second penalty for a handling infringement by Keith Farrugia. Elton Caruana scored from the spot for Zejtun’s second goal.

Section B

Luqa SA-Gozo 1-2

It took the Gozoitans just nine minutes to break the deadlock as a cross by Joseph Portelli was finished off by Josef Buttigieg. They continued to push forward with Joseph Portelli wasting a sitter.

On other occasions Chris Camilleri was very close to increasing their lead but it was Luqa who drew level on 32 minutes through Mark Said following a personal effort.

Three minutes later an Anthony Portelli header was saved by Agius and just before the break the Luqa keeper was again on hand to stop a Chris Camilleri free-kick. Luqa went close in the 57th minute through Owen Psaila whose effort was saved by Grima with the Gozitans responding through Chris Camilleri who hit just high over the bar following a through-pass by Jean Pierre Saliba.

On 71 minutes the Luqa keeper was fouled by the Gozo substitute John Camilleri and the latter was shown the red card. Luqa had a clear opportunity through Owen Psaila but two minutes from time Chris Camilleri grabbed the Gozitans’ winning goal following a personal effort.

Gzira-Gharghur 0-0

Gharghur were close early on through Antonello Brincat and in the 20th minute a Robert Southward free-kick was cleared with difficult by the Gzira goalkeeper.

Five minutes later Gzira had a cross by Andre Buttigieg but Aldrin Muscat was anticipated by a Gharghur defender before he could conclude at goal.

At the other end the Gzira keeper punched the ball to safety off a David Galea free-kick but it was Gzira who created the best opprtunity just before the change of ends as Keith Bonello’s header was cleared off the goal line by Gharghur’s defender David Galea.

Two minutes into the second period Gharghur went close through a David Galea free-kick and in the 50th minute another free-kick which was this time taken by Robert Southward was well saved by Camilleri.

On the hour Gzira were close to taking the lead as a shot by Dylan Agius hit the side netting. Agius was again close three minutes later with a low shot which was saved byVella with Gharghur replying on 73 minutes as a Matthew Coleiro corner-kick was headed at goal by Daniel Borg and Camilleri did well to save.

Two minutes from time Gzira wasted a clear opportunity through Gaetano Farrugia and in added time a shot by Aldrin Muscat was turned onto the post by Vella. This result has assured Gzira United of a place in the Promotion Play-Offs.

Pembroke Ath-Kalkara 0-1

Pembroke Athleta gained the initiative during the first period but they lacked finishing infront of goal.

After four minutes a shot by Steve Micallef was blocked by a Kalkara defender and later on a cross by Jeffrey Fenech found Carlo Leonardi whose shot was saved by Camilleri.

Kalkara were lose through Nicky Gatt with Pembroke replying through Luke Desira whose crosshot was saved by Camilleri. Just before the change of ends the Pembroke custodian brought off a difficult save to foil Kevin Tonna.

On 54 minutes the Pembroke keeper brought off a difficult save to deny Kalkara’s midfield player Kevin Tonna with Pembroke wasting an easy opportunity through Liam Camilleri.

In the 66th minute Liam Camilleri was very close as his point blank header was turned over the bar by Darren Camilleri.

In a counter-attack Kalkara went close as a shot by Joe Mizzi was saved by Debattista but in the 80th minute Kalkara broke the deadlock as Joe Mizzi managed to find the net with a low shot.

Pembroke’s late efforts failed to pay as they have now failed to qualify for the Promotion Play-Offs. This result means that Gharghur now join Gzira United in the Play-Offs.
