This year's popular San Michel teams tournament at VLTC came to an end recently.

The tournament is sponsored by San Michel Mineral Water of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. and attracted the participation of 72 men and 36 ladies. Players were divided into six teams and the tournament's captains were Carmen Difesa, Joe Vella, Victor Rutter, Doriana Portelli, Reno Bezzina and Vince Vassallo.

The tournament was held over a period of 12 weeks with teams playing each other over two rounds and then with the top four teams proceeding to the knockout stage. In the semi-finals, Carmen Difesa's team beat Victor Rutter's while Joe Vella's team got the better of the team captained by Doriana Portelli.

In the final, played on VLTC's San Michel court, Carmen Difesa's team emerged the tournament's winners beating Joe Vella's team with a 7-5 scoreline. A presentation was held at the club after the final.

Vittoriosa Lawn Tennis Club thanked Simonds Farsons Cisk plc for having once more given VLTC members the possibility of enjoying the popular San Michel tournament, which served as a week-end breaker during the winter months.
