Malta’s match against Austria in Graz on 30 May will be the 300th international being played by Malta since that first historic match against Austria at the Empire Stadium in Gzira on 24 February 1957.
Addressing the press yesterday, MFA president Dr Mifsud said this was only incidental and was not planned, adding that this match will be played just eight days before the start of the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland.
Dr Mifsud also announced that next Friday a Maltese Selection will be facing the visiting Belgian Olympic side at Ta’ Qali national Stadium at 6pm.
He said the Belgians have selected Malta for a training camp in preparation for their forthcoming participation in the Beijing Olympics for which they have qualified.
Dr Mifsud added that an admission price of Euros 2.5 had been fixed to cover the costs for staging such a match.
