Qormi finished their commitments yesterday beating Dingli to reach Mosta at the top of the table. However everything is still undecided at the top as both Qormi and Mosta will have to wait till next Sunday’s match between Tarxien and St Patrick to know their fate.

The match was a one side affair with Qormi always in command, especially after taking an early two-goal lead. Dingli without Jeremy Agius and losing Anywanna after half an hour were unable to worry the Qormi rearguard even though they gave a very good account of themselves.

Qormi immediately took full control of the match scoring two goals in the first fifteen minutes to put their minds at rest. On eight minutes Qormi took the lead when substitute Michael Borg Olivier put his side ahead with his first touch of the ball. Carmel Formosa did all the running and crossed towards Lee Grima who headed to the unmarked Borg Olivier who hammered the ball home.

Five minutes later Qormi doubled the score when Clyde Camoin powered his way inside the penalty area and fired a low shot into the far corner of the net. After this initial burst Qormi sat on their laurels as they controlled the match with relative ease.

Dingli tried to take advantage of Qormi’s relaxation but failed to impress in front of goal. Chris Ciappara missed some chances and Qormi were never really under pressure.

However at the start of the second period Ciappara reduced the arrears for Dingli when he scored from close range following a Kurt Formosa cross. But two minutes later Qormi re-established their two-goal lead when Joseph Farrugia fired a dipper from long distance that finished in the top corner of the net.

Six minutes from time Qormi scored their fourth goal when Jonathan Francica volleyed home a Farrugia cornerkick. On 88 minutes Dingli scored a second goal when Etienne Farrugia passed to Chris Ciappara who lobbed beautifully into the back of the net.
