The Malta Labour Party is making such a big fuss because the former Nationalist Party information officer has been appointed as head of communications in the Prime Minister’s Office.

It is clear that Dr Gonzi wanted the support of someone who is hard-working, trustworthy and reliable. And Gordon Pisani has proved that he is all that.

What did the Labour Party expect? That the prime minister appoints Manwel Cuschieri or Charlon Gouder as head of his communications department? Or perhaps wait until Jason Micallef resigns or is removed from the post of MLP secretary general to appoint him?

Isn’t it obvious that the head of the communications department in the OPM is someone in whom Dr Gonzi has confidence?
