Several talented young male and female footballers who train with the Under 11 and Under 12 categories will take part in the fifth edition of Emirates Airline Young Footballer Challenge to be held in the evening on Friday at the Victor Tedesco Stadium in Hamrun.
The Challenge, which is being organised by Arsenal Malta Supporters Club (AMSC) in collaboration with Emirates Airline and with the support of the English Premier Football Club Arsenal FC, has received the confirmation from 18 Youth Football Clubs in Malta.
“We have received applications from most of the Nursery Clubs of the premier division such as Valletta, Birkirkara, Floriana, Sliema and Hamrun,” said Peter Paul Gauci, Event Coordinator and Vice-President and PRO of AMSC. “Our aim is to encourage both the talent and the spirit of sports at the grass root level.”
On Friday, all chosen participants will be tested on their individual skills in dribbling, juggling and shooting, according to the Set Minimum Standards of the Nursery Clubs.
For this year’s edition parents and friends of young participants are invited to attend and watch the competition and the competitors’ training session with Arsenal FC coaches on Friday evening. The event will commence at 6pm.
The junior members of the Arsenal Supporters Club are invited to attend to a fun training football session with the visiting Arsenal FC coaches to be held during the same evening.
At the end of the Challenge, the competitors will have a special training session with the two Arsenal FC coaches. Each participant will be presented with a certificate and Emirates give-aways followed by the presentation of Trophies, prizes and Emirates Airline Young Footballer Challenge Shield.
