With their season barely ended, champions Valletta FC are already reported to be on the lookout in their efforts to search for new signings.

One sector which certainly needs to be strengthened, especially after the recent two routs against Marsaxlokk and Birkirkara, is the defence.

In this regard, international defender Luke Dimech, formerly of Marsaxlokk and Birkirkara, is being mentioned as a prime target for the Citizens.

Dimech has been on the books of English side Macclesfield, but a few days ago was released by the club.

The Valletta FC administration is now seeking to meet the player or his agent to determine whether it is possible to lure him back to Maltese football.

The chance to play in the Champions League qualifying round should be an attraction for the Malta defender who would therefore join two other internationals – Josef Mifsud and Kenneth Scicluna in the heart of the defence.
