The Malta Football Referees Association has condemned the attack on its member Chris Francalanza in a recent second division match at the Centenary Stadium.

The player has been handed out a three-year ban by the Disciplinary Commissioner of the MFA and the police are expected to arraign the aggressor in the next few days.

In a statement to the press over the signature of its PRO, Alexander Arena, the MFRA said it was ‘committed to protect its members from those who do not play football according to the Laws of the Game and will take all the action that was deemed necessary.’
