Michael Falzon ‘livid’

Malta Independent Sunday, 25 May 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Labour deputy leader Michael Falzon reacted strongly to the publication of the report on the party’s election defeat, the PN website Maltarightnow reported yesterday.

He told reporters yesterday that the report includes conclusions that do not reflect his own version of things.

Primarily, he was reacting against the charge that the decision to allow voting to continue by an additional hour, which it is alleged cost Labour the victory, was taken by himself alone. When the commission interviewed him, he told them he had no say in this decision and the interview was recorded.

But nothing of this made it to the report and the report blames him for this decision.

This, he added, shows that there is someone out to get him.

Speaking to the website’s reporters following a visit to Mtarfa, Dr Falzon said that he would be holding a press conference in the coming days to reply to the report. He also did not exclude the possibility that someone could use the report to sustain his own position
