I refer to the article penned by Charles Vella, Media and Information Executive of the GWU (The GWU and the Social Pact (2) TMID, 21 May) in which he failed there again to give a true picture of facts.
No sweet talk will ever erase the short sightedness of the GWU in which the workers they represented had to shoulder the brunt. I will not go into details but Mr Vella must have known an instant or two in which the GWU failed in its quest in the recent past.
If the GWU feels that they have accomplished their mission by championing the failure of the negotiations leading to a national agreement then I will rest my case. The UHM wholeheartedly disagrees. Workers had the opportunity to lead this country forward in good and bad times.
With its actions, once again, the GWU opted to serve old ties, not workers’ interests.
