A report in The People yesterday claimed that Malta striker Michael Mifsud is set to leave English Championship side Coventry City during the summer.
A short note in the Gossip column of BBC Sport Online quoted the Sunday newspaper as saying that Premiership side Sunderland, Scottish Premier runners-up Rangers and Championship side Birmingham City were all interested in the £2m-rated striker.
Mifsud has made a name for himself at Coventry and has become one of the fans’ favourites at the Ricoh Arena, even if in the final stages of the Championship, his form dipped and also struggled to find the net.
Last Friday he was on target for Malta as he scored the only goal in the 5-1 defeat against Austria in Graz.
