No More mistakes

Malta Independent Tuesday, 3 June 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

The Malta Labour Party will be making its most important decision on Thursday. It is far more important than the one it took to elect Alfred Sant as leader 16 years ago. Today, the party is more fragmented than it was at the time Dr Sant took over.

After three election defeats in a row, not to mention the referendum, it is clear that the party needs a fresh start. The party needs an experienced leader who is capable of bringing the different factions under one command and bring unity.

The MLP cannot afford to make another mistake. It made one when it chose to reconfirm Alfred Sant as leader five years ago after a referendum and an election defeat. If another mistake is committed now, the party’s future would be very much in doubt.
