I cannot understand why the Malta Labour Party electoral commission chose not to allow the five contenders for the post of party leader take part in last Friday’s edition of Xarabank.
Peppi Azzopardi was right in claiming that it was a discriminatory act against the programme, considering that the contestants were allowed to participate in other programmes, albeit on an individual basis.
But it is strange that the party commission chose to ban their participation from the most popular local TV show.
It is clear that although the report analysing the reasons behind the MLP’s defeat recommended that the party should be more open with the independent media, the lessons have not yet been learnt.
