From the survey conducted by The Malta Independent on Sunday, and the report carried in this newspaper (TMID, 28 May), it is clear that the Malta Labour Party will be making the wrong choice again.

The people would see George Abela as the best leader the MLP could possible have at this stage, and yet the people also believe that it will be Joseph Muscat who will win the election.

It is therefore likely that the MLP will once again have a leader who is not appealing to the floating voters, those who decide the outcome of a general election. Labour have lost the 2008 election because its leader did not convince the floating voters that the MLP was a valid alternative. Many chose to stay at home rather than vote Labour, with the result that the PN won for the third time in a row.

By electing Joseph Muscat, Labour runs the risk of losing the fourth election in a row in 2013. Is the MLP prepared to take this risk?

The people have spoken through the surveys. It is up to the Labour delegates to hear what they had to say.
