Hold your breath.

The water and electricity surcharge will soon go up and, judging by the way the government has been speaking about it, it will not go up by one or two percentage points.

We have been paying 50 per cent surcharge for a few months and this is only because there was an election in the first half of the year.

Now that this is over, you can bet your last euro that the surcharge will go as high as can be.

After all, the election is now five years away and there is ample time for the government to make up for it.

We will soon have to go back to lighting candles but... I would not be surprised if a surcharge will start to be imposed on candles too.

This is the government we have voted for.
