Have the health authorities ever considered how foodstuffs, especially bread, are delivered to the retail outlets in the early morning? Loaves of all shapes and sizes are packed in large carton boxes, which are used over and over again and can, as such, never be very hygienic.

These boxes are then thrown behind the closed doors of these outlets and left there, uncovered, at the mercy of wind, dust, thousands of flying and/or crawling insects and the occasional visit of a stray dog or cat. When the bread is finally taken inside, it is placed in large containers and it is left there, unattended, at the mercy of flies and tens of pairs of hands which are not always an example of cleanliness.

And while the mother is choosing her bziezen and discussing the merits or otherwise of each single one she decides to take, the accompanying toddlers are very often having the fun of their lives playing with the other panini. Go to any supermarket/minimarket and see for yourself.
