I wish to set some points right regarding the proposed building of a cemetery on the road leading to Ramla Bay because a recent letter in your news-paper said otherwise.

The spring water, ten thousand gallons of water every day, coming from beneath the site is not contaminated. Only the nitrate level was found to be slightly in excess of EU standards for drinking water.

Other sites were not considered: near the motor racing track or in front of the old cemetery beneath the road.

When digging began at the proposed site, the spring water turned milky showing that water from underneath the proposed site goes to the spring.

I wish to ask: if the cemetery becomes a reality, who will pay for the damage suffered by the farmers?

And does it not stand to reason that we cannot ruin the natural landscape around and leading to Ramla Bay?

If the decision by Mepa was not taken wisely, it should be revoked. If it was taken on the wrong premises, then it is not a good decision.
