I am writing in connection with the limbo situation of the equity sharing scheme.

Many Maltese engaged/married couples are waiting to know what will happen to this scheme. Is this going to be renewed? Or was this a gimmick for election time?

This is having a knock down effect on the property market in Malta as couples do not want to buy until they get the ‘green light’ from the Housing Authority.

If the government does not intend to renew this scheme it should let us know. We will be in a much better position knowing what to do. As a married couple we are losing money each month paying rent waiting for the scheme to come out. Therefore at this point, the scheme is working against us rather than for us.
