Nestlé Malta announced the publication of a unique and informative Wellness Guide, a publication in English and Maltese that promotes the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
The Nestlé Fitness Wellness Guide with fitness tips and a helpful step by step guide on how to conduct daily exercise was an initiative of Nestlé Malta in line with its commitment to promote the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. The wellness guide was then published through a direct collaboration with the Malta Exercise, Health and Fitness Association (MEHFA) of whom Nestlé Malta is the Activity Sponsor.
“When earlier this year we had announced our official partnering with the Malta Exercise, Health and Fitness Association, we had pledged to strengthen our active involvement in promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle amongst the Maltese. The publication of this new Wellness Guide is therefore another concrete effort in this direction,” said Giorgio Mondoví, Managing Director at Nestlé Malta.
Commenting during the launch of the Wellness Guide, Gino Schiavone, President of the Malta Exercise, Health and Fitness Association said “from a recent unofficial study conducted earlier this year, results have shown us that over 23,800 people attend gyms. There are approximately 100 health and fitness clubs in Malta comprising small centres and fitness facilities within hotels. However the biggest market in the Health and Fitness field is that of people walking and exercising indoors which is estimated to be double those attending gyms. This is why MEHFA and Nestlé Malta as partners have come up with this booklet to inform the public better and help those who are inactive to start exercising.”
“In our study it also transpired that only 2.3 per cent, most of whom are females, do some form of aerobics. Therefore, to encourage more aerobic exercise, we have dedicated a whole section to MEHFA’s Famous Five exercises in this new Fitness Wellness Guide: 5 simple exercises which are a good start to physical fitness and can be done very easily without any equipment required in one’s own home,” added Mr Schiavone.
The launch was also addressed Clyde Puli, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport, who praised Nestlé Malta and MEHFA for their continued efforts towards promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyle amongst children and adults alike. In his address, Mr Puli also praised the collaboration that ensued between Nestlé Malta and MEHFA and reiterated that healthy cooperation between private entities and sporting organizations always results into sustained and successful results for any initiative. Hon Puli stated that this is what spurred Government to create financial incentives that encourage more similar cooperation between the private sector and sports associations and the resultant Nestlé Fitness Wellness Guide is a tangible proof of such cooperation.
The Nestlé Fitness Wellness Guide which includes tips on how to start daily effective exercising, proper warming up techniques, how to gradually increase resistance and useful dietary information, will be distributed freely throughout the summer months, during fitness sampling events, in major supermarkets and during outdoor events organised by the Malta Exercise, Health and Fitness Association. Copies of this Wellness Guide may also be obtained by calling Nestlé Malta’s offices on freephone number 80072209 or send and email to [email protected].
