It’s incredible how a nation, which can show for itself so many years of statesmanship and reliance, can be so anemic about the aspect, which hurts it on so many levels.

First, the bus strike is apologetic about the monopoly, which axiomatically raises the cost of the service and/or lowers its quality. The society is directly putting money into the pockets of a few business owners.

It’s even more unusual, that it is followed by the employees of a branch, thus they are not gaining anything from the situation. Ironically, they are letting themselves get arrested, even though the monopoly enables their employers to keep their wages low.

Second, the strike is harming a branch which contributes a good third of the nation’s GDP, and will seriously hurt the nation’s economy.

And last, but not least, even if we neglect the economic aspect, the nation, which has ancestors such as the great Phoenicians and Romans, with its latency, is transforming itself into an obedient mass, clearly determined to let itself be used by a handful of turbo-capitalists, who laugh at them from their million-dollar yachts.

Don’t kid yourselves, the strike is only the beginning.

So, wake up Malta.
