My great admiration and highest praise are due to Barbara Cassar Torregiani of SPCA, Dominic Zammit and “his men” Charles and an unnamed person of the fire service.
A cat died in horrific circumstances early last Wednesday morning. Thursday morning I was told by my 19-year-old grand-daughter Chloe that the cat had kittens hidden away in the apartment’s cavernous garage.
Along with her boyfriend Kyle, the two youngsters spent their day off from work tirelessly trying to reach these unfortunate kittens, to no avail.
Early evening, I called cat rescue service. Only to get a recorded message. I called SPCA, again no luck.
In desperation I called the fire service where Mr Zammit went out of his way to reassure me he would do all he could to help and that help was on the way.
I took the very great liberty of calling Ms Cassar Torregiani of SPCA at her home. She arrived at the same time as the civil protection crew.
Charles and and the other person, both strong men, but very gentle with the kittens, shifted through mountains of accumulated rubbish including heavy planks of wood, old door and windows till along with Ms Cassar Torregiani’s help and four of the five kittens were rescued.
The rescue of those orphaned kittens was treated as a major operation of national importance, also with great kindness to me as I was feeling completely exhausted with worry and concern.
I would like to thank all involved publicly.
