Justin Haber Joins Sheffield United

Malta Independent Thursday, 31 July 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Maltese International goal keeper Justin Haber has passed his medical test with Sheffield United, and will be presented to the media and supporters tomorrow.

He will be sporting the Blades number 22 shirt and fighting to earn his place in this very competitive Coca-Cola Championship league.

After settling down well at Haidairi FC last year Justin had a couple of Greek clubs willing to sign him up but opted for the English Championship to continue enhancing his sporting career.

Justin commented “I am very happy to be here especially after the manager showed such interest in me and knew a lot about me. Like always I will be ready to compete for a place in the squad and will do my utmost to continue improving myself”.

Two years ago Justin was invited on a trial by the manager of Sheffield United, Neil Warnock who was very interested in capturing the signature of this young goalkeeper.

With Sheffield being then in the premiership the manager had decided to better see him in action with another club in Belgium where he had been temporarily parked. Unfortunately for Justin, Warnock moved on from the Blades and thus all interest was dropped.

Agent Carly Barnes and Peter Paul Gauci revived this interest after the current manager Kevin Blackwell was scouting for a quality goal keeper to add to his squad early last year. After seeing him perform well in international duty and at club level, Blackwell asked Haber to sit for his medical test and join the squad last Monday.
