The inevitable has happened. It was abundantly obvious from the start that if no steps were taken to stop this illegal invasion of our shores thousands would want to make it to the European happy hunting grounds. It is sickening to read articles about the illegal immigrants complaints.What cheek. Why not write about the spread of disease, illegitimate children, the cost of maintenance, the addition to our overburdened medical services, the cost of surveillance, upkeep etc. I have waited months to have a cyst removed at Mater Dei and still no appointment. In the army in 1945, a surgeon captain pulled up a chair, called for scalpel, disinfectant, and sutures and hey presto, cyst gone! A lifetime of paying taxes that continues in my old age only to be given the run around and looked upon with disdain. Maltese people must not let politicians downplay this threat to the nation.

I admire contributors to newspapers like Louise Vella and others – too few unfortunately – who feel that we are facing a dire situation which is bound to aggravate with time.

Where is the Maltese “Enoch Powell”? I long to see a mass demonstration to raise awareness of the consequences of this unending invasion from Africa. Incredibly, no effective action has been taken to seriously discourage wave after wave of fresh arrivals.
