Father Sandro Camilleri has told us not to believe what Bishop Andrea Gemma said about the whole sham that is taking place in Medjugorje (TMIS, 27 July). He wants us to believe only what Father Rene Laurentin had to say. So, we ignore a Bishop and listen only to a Father. As far as I’m concerned, Bishop Gemma is one of the most respected voices in the Church, and I’m sure that we cannot ignore him.

Nowadays it has almost become a custom to see the Virgin Mary; but if you study these people, these so-called visionaries, and give it a little bit of thought, you will soon realise that behind much of all this, the main reason is business. It is true what your paper said about those men; yes, they all live in a luxurious villa, but other normal citizens still live in poverty.

The Virgin Mary is appearing to a man in Malta as well. I was greatly surprised when I read in a local newspaper that the Virgin Mary had told this gentleman that she would tell him everything if he brings more foreign devotees to Malta. My God, can you believe this? I’m sure the Virgin Mary can easily make her appearance in all countries of the world. Come on, when are we going to learn?

This is purely a business matter, and the local church has to do something about this

Father Camilleri said that he went to Medjugorje 12 times. Well, good luck to him, I, know priests that go free of charge over there.
