The Airport’s shabby cafeteria

From Mr H. Tek

I am a frequent visitor to the beautiful Maltese Islands as I am very much involved in the ongoing project of Smart City Malta. I travel to and from Malta and, in the majority of cases, I am accompanied by several other businessmen.

As we all know, Malta relies heavily on tourism but on the other hand, it does not seek to improve its product. An example is the cafeterias at ground level at Malta International Airport. It is quite clear to all that this is the very first encounter that tourists and businessmen alike have with Malta. The unprofessional and unfriendly staff working in these cafeterias leaves much to be desired. There are no warm and friendly smiles for customers and more often than not one does not feel welcome.

Apart from this, the shabbiness of these cafeterias is not acceptable. Customers are given drinks in dirty glasses and tables are left loaded with empty glasses and plates for a very long time. Surely this is not acceptable. Besides which, the prices charged are certainly no way near good value for money.

Personally, I can’t understand such behaviour and MIA is surely pushing away business. I hope action is taken soon in the interest of both the Maltese and the tourists/businessmen who visit the island.
