I would like to say how much I enjoyed reading the interview with Vittoriosa mayor John Boxall (TMID, 4 August).
My family and I have had an apartment in Vittoriosa for just over 12 months. True – we were originally attracted by the history, views of the Grand Harbour, marina and the various restaurants. It didn’t take long though to realise that one of Vittoriosa major assets is Mr Boxall.
I have been fascinated how a town so maligned in the past has become a joy to visit and live in – the numerous events, the cultural and visual enhancements, the plants in the Collachio and the pride of the residents in their town.
And Mr Boxall’s hand seems to be in it all the way. Observing his energy and enthusiasm as street decorations are erected and dismantled, his sheer presence appears to make things happen. I agree with his comments around politics – frankly I couldn’t care less as to what flag he flies as long as it’s Vittoriosa’s.
Well done and keep it up!
