The much-awaited digital cinema has finally arrived in Malta! Empire Cinema Complex in Bugibba are once again on theforefront of the cinema sphere, and the first to launch thisincredible experience... the Digital 3D Cinema, that is set torevolutionise the cinema experience.
The experience is truly mesmerising, with people grabbing atthin air and pulling back from objects that appear to be zooming straight at them... this dynamic form of movie entertainment engages the audience in something much richer and morecompelling than they are used to seeing in the movie theatre.
The events onscreen seem so close to real life, even more thanthat, they are larger than life.
So far the only step towards digital in the analogue cinemaworld has been in the realm of sound... but Empire CinemaComplex is complementing digital sound with the same quality picture and shifted from the traditional 35mm film to digital projection. With digital projection viewers are ensured acrystal clear picture quality. With 35mm film every imperfection gets shown as the 35mm print passes through the projector; scratches, dust, fluff, stray hair and all. With a digitalprojector linked to a server the picture is simply flawless.
DreamWorks CEO and Shrek’s producer Jeffrey Katzenbergsays: “Digital 3D represents a revolution for filmmakers andfilmgoers, bringing an entirely new experience to the moviescreen. It’s the biggest innovation in the movie business sincethe advent of colour 70 years ago.”
James Cameron says: “I will be making all of my films in digital 3D in the future”.
Movie-goers are struck with something so vivid and thrilling, they can’t help but respond. And that wonderfully engagingexperience of digital cinema in both 2D and 3D was launchedat the Empire Cinema Complex on 5 August.
