The generous support of the Maltese people for the missions has been of benefit to many in Third World countries. It does us proud as a nation and is a fitting tribute to our Father in the Faith, Saint Paul.
I can testify abundantly to this from my 25 years of lay missionary work in Santal Parganas, India. My main involvement is the training of local women to run dispensaries in the interior areas where qualified medical personnel are unavailable. I also train and supervise village health workers in the diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses like malaria, TB and epilepsy. Another demanding activity is the community rehabilitation of children with various forms of disabilities.
During my present visit to Malta I have come to know several members of Mission Fund and have been highly impressed and edified by their dedication and commitment: both in collecting funds as well as in their annual building projects. I would like to thank Mission Fund publicly for the donation they have given me.
Thanks are also due to the many friends who give donations, and collect telecards and stamps to help raise funds. May the Lord bless them all for their generosity and grant them the hundredfold He has promised.
