Court: Libyan Charged with importing heroin

A 23-year-old Libyan man was charged yesterday with importing heroin after he was arrested at the Malta International Airport with 10 capsules containing 100 grammes of the drug in his stomach.

Abdul Salam Mahmoud Mohammed Abdulla, pleaded not guilty before magistrate Michael Mallia to associating himself with other people to import the drug and possessing it in circumstances denoting it was not for his own consumption. He was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Dennis Theuma prosecuted while Dr Anthony Cutajar was legal aid.
