I have no more doubt about it now! When we talk of deceit, manipulation, dirty tricks and a little tbazwir the Nationalist Party is second to none.

I said so before the election and I am repeating it now. Readers of these columns know that before the election I repeatedly warned those Labour activists (where are they now?) to stop counting their chickens prematurely.

And I was proved right. In fact, with a little tbazwir here and a little tbazwir there, the Nationalist Party, single handedly and against all odds registered its third consecutive victory at the polls.

GonziPN beat the Malta Labour Party, the General Workers’ Union (GWU), the Alternattiva, Josie’s party, the price of oil and the cereals, the 20 previous years of prosperity, the idea that is perfectly expressed in Maltese: Jekk ma tbiddilx tqammel and Oliver Twist’s insistence of wanting more... Let them all come, said GoooonziPN! And they did come, but...

But that is not enough to confirm my belief that the Nationalists are real masters of deceit. In fact, they are not only experts when they come to choose their leaders but they are so clever that they can choose even the leaders of their political adversaries. The plot has worked to perfection. Unbelievable!
