I refer to the letter on noise pollution (TMID, 15 August) – quite a few in Malta are beginning to realise the damage that noise is doing to them with regard to lack of sleep and various other health problems.
I do have one simple question. If the law is being broken and the police know until what time a permit is valid, why do they wait until someone complains before they get themselves to do something (maybe)?
I would have thought that one of the prerequisites of joining the police force is good hearing. So don’t they hear the noise? Not just at Valletta, but everywhere.
All they have to do is read the local papers and that should direct them, without too much trouble, to where the noise is coming from.
