I write in reference to Daphne Caruana Galizia’s article (Cocaine and gonorrhoea – but please, no divorce, TMID, 28 August). If she wants to call someone lunatic with regard to Maltese literature and dialects, please call me and not the Gozitans.

I have been spending time and money organising a series of festivals and activities for the past four years; and this can be attested to by a number of local councils like the Vittoriosa and Zejtun councils; and by Heritage Malta among others.

In fact I am the founder of the NGO VersAghtini IL-KELMA MALTIJA and it is this group and not Munxar local council which is organising the Djaletti festival in Gozo.

I will take this opportunity to thank songwriter Walter Micallef and Mikael and Miriam Zarb from Vittoriosa who have always supported my activities.

Daphne, if you are really curious about the festival, I invite you to come and see for yourself.

Maybe next time you write, you will give us just a little support that we badly need.

It is the only thing I can ask seeing the lack of interest from all and sundry about our unique language – Maltese.

In the meantime rest assured that you will be hearing more about future activities with regard to Maltese literature, dialects and ghana.

And thanks for mentioning the festival; after all no publicity is bad publicity.
