May I wish the Maltese national football team the best of luck in view of next Saturday’s opening World Cup qualifier against Portugal on home soil.

The Portuguese players hail from a nation where football culture always produced promising elements. We will have the opportunity to watch players who tasted the most influential championships worldwide such as England, Spain, Germany, Turkey and Italy.

Unfortunately, we will be playing without prolific goal scorer Andre’ Schembri who is suspended and without our stalwart Andrew Cohen who is injured.

The admission prices for this match are very reasonable and were kept relatively low.

My appeal goes to all local followers who with the aid of the professional organisation of the “south end core”, will again create a scintillating atmosphere at the stadium, especially behind the goal posts.
