Mepa Please take action

Malta Independent Sunday, 14 September 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Hats off to the Lija mayor and councillors who pulled out all the stops to safeguard the destruction of a conservation area and fulfil their residents’ pleas. Other councils should wake up and do the same.

Unlike the Lija council, the St Paul’s Bay council did not do anything for its residents on a matter taken up by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority. A stop notice ECF 85/07 has been in force for 12 months with a direct action in change of use. The residents in the block and environs are the ones to suffer and put up with it.

We did not get anywhere even after writing to the Prime Minister, who is responsible for Mepa, the Leader of the Opposition and the Chairman of Alternattiva Demokratika, to make them aware of the situation.

We continue to insist with Mepa to take action.
