I refer to the article Foreign birdwatchers are not welcome – FKNK (TMID, 10 September).

Why is the hunters’ and trappers’ federation, FKNK, against foreign birdwatchers? Why does (secretary) Lino Farrugia refer to these groups as “spies”?

Does the word paranoia ring any bells here? Just what exactly are the hunters afraid of? If as they say they are hunting legally then no reports these groups make will matter. If they are not doing anything illegal then surely no photographs taken by these groups can show anything illegal.

As for “federation action teams” investigating reports, what is that going to prove? Hunters policing hunters!
