The Malta Library and Information Association (MaLIA) fully supports the arguments brought forward by Mr Borg and has in fact written to the Chief Executive of the BA showing its concern about the fact that persons with qualifications in archives and records management and library and information studies are not eligible to apply for this post.

MaLIA would also like to emphasise that such a post, as indicated clearly in the job description available on the BA website, requires specific training and skills related to the managing of information and records.

It is therefore a point of concern for our association that qualifications obtained through the hard work and dedication of students are being ignored despite the fact that these qualifications are inextricably linked to the post in discussion.

MaLIA would like to reiterate the call made by Mr Borg, that is, that a new call is issued giving members of our profession the opportunity to apply for this post.
