Teacher and schools administrators think that because they are lucky enough to finish work at 2.30pm other people have time to waste.

Schools have re-started after the summer holidays and each day during the first week, my sons have come home with a list of things to buy.

I have a full-time job, finish at 5.30pm, and have had to rush to the stationer every day to see to their needs. There, I find other mothers and a few fathers in the same predicament.

Why cannot schools and teachers come up with a comprehensive list of what students need to buy so that the parents have to go to the stationer’s only once? This list could be compiled before the start of the scholastic year, and given to the students on the first day.

Parents would then be spared having to go shopping for their children’s needs each and every day. But it seems that schools and teachers cannot be bothered. After all, they finish at 2.30pm so have enough time on their hands to waste away.
