The Malta Labour Party must have broken yet another record. In just one year, they had three Opposition Leaders.

They started off with Alfred Sant, who resigned on 5 June, three months after the election loss and on the same day that the party was voting to elect its new leader. The post was then taken up by Charles Mangion, who was until then the deputy leader for parliamentary affairs, a post he relinquished a week later to Anglu Farrugia.

And now we have Joseph Muscat being sworn in as Opposition Leader, the third man to occupy the post this year.

It could have been four too – but we were spared it all because Dr Farrugia chose to allow Dr Mangion to hold on to the post until Dr Muscat decided to resign from the European Parliament to take a seat at the House of Representatives.
