I do not want to get into a long drawn-out argument with (Tony Formosa) but will answer his question?

Where have I been living all these years? In the UK Tony, watching it go down the drain. Could you please tell me what other assets Malta has? No, not tourism – that is being priced out of the market, as is Air Malta. If as you say the Drydocks has no hope of being turned into a viable enterprise, then your government must be living in cloud-cuckoo land ploughing more millions into it to get rid of its staff with early retirement and compensation. Who is going to buy a sinking ship? Had it been a private company, it would just have closed its doors and not even said sorry to the workers.

I do not know the answer to the problem but maybe new management paid a reasonable salary with a bonus at end of year on their achievement. I think that is where the problem starts and finishes. If Mr Formosa’s attitude is every other person’s in Malta, then the government might as well just let it lay and rot, for who is going to throw money into a sinking ship. I am sure you will have a reply but this is my last word on the issue of the Drydocks. Just seems a shame to see it lie there, rotting away.
