World Arthritis day

Malta Independent Saturday, 11 October 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

It looks as if the world is happy with arthritis and rheumatism and sciatica. These seem to have become as common as anything lately. But experience has shown that the stewing of legs of beef for their marrow, which is nourishment for the nerves, has been outlawed. These legs of beef are being destroyed at the abattoir following, it is said, orders from above.

Experience has shown that, since this prohibition, arthritis has exploded. This is experience but the authorities do not want to take heed. Now they are celebrating the explosion of arthritis.

What I am saying is from the experience of more than 80 years. Why, I ask again, has it been prohibited to cook legs of beef? Experience has shown that, since this prohibition, arthritis and sciatica have become much more common. And the authorities do not care. They are just celebrating.
