From Mr J. Gaffarena
So now the Emigrants Commission is seeing the situation we are in. I saw the interview with the Monsignor on television and from his face and comments, it appears that now we really are in a grave situation.
We have been seeing this situation for years now, but we were accused of being racist. Our local authorities knew what was going to happen but, as usual, they kept everyone in the dark. Our MEPs have done nothing about the situation, and they are only talking about it now because the EP elections are coming up.
As the Monsignor said: we cannot afford more, we cannot keep on accepting these illegals and we have to find a solution. The only solution is to stop this illegal immigration and send the immigrants back to their countries, or to their place of departure. We are already seeing them taking our jobs – and in all areas. The industrial estates are giving them jobs, in all kind of working conditions, and they are costing our economy millions of euros.
This is a matter of survival, something that has been weakening our economy for years, and bringing health hazards to our country.
It is now crystal clear that we cannot afford any more of this. Those photographed shaking hands with and kissing Gaddafi have brought nothing positive to our island.
The forthcoming EP election is going to be crucial regarding these immigrants. I’m more than sure that people will give a clear answer on this matter, because we are all fed up with the situation. Yes there is a solution because, as the saying goes: “Flimkien kollox hu possibli”.
