I am pleased for the residents of Gozo that they can now avail themselves of free Internet access at places such as local council offices (Free Internet service for Gozitans, TMIS 19 October).

However, I was slightly bemused to read that this is through the good offices of Vodafone and the “Digital Citizenship Developed on Wireless Network in Geographically Isolated Areas” project – partly funded by the EU.

“Geographically isolated”? With a decent pair of binoculars I could probably see what people in Mgarr are having for breakfast from my home in Mellieha Heights!
