Thumbs Down

Malta Independent Sunday, 26 October 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

From Eur. Ing K. Abela

Thumbs down to the authorities responsible for our roads, for making life harder for the motorist.

Thumbs down No. 1 – The road passing through the valley between San Gwann and Swieqi is a busy road and quite narrow. One would have expected this road to be widened, for instance by filling in the holes at the side of the road to allow better vehicular access. But no, of course not. The road has now been NARROWED by installing paving stones and concrete along the side of the road. At the narrowest part, where two cars could just squeeze through together; now only one car can make it through. So more traffic jams. Well done!

Thumbs down No 2 – SIX sleeping policemen in just a 40 metre stretch. That is what has been installed in Dragonara Road.

A bit of overkill? And why? As if we do not have enough bumps in our roads.

Thumbs Down No 3 – To whoever is responsible for letting the mayhem exist in Paceville in the St George’s Park area where construction is taking place.

Trucks, concrete mixers, gas delivery trucks, delivery vans and so on, all blocking the roads. I had to pay €40 euro for a new wing mirror when trying to squeeze past this week. Another well done.
