Naxxar L-Mgarr U 0-0

After just two minutes an indecision in the Naxxar defence almost gave Mgarr United the lead but Matthew Muscat’s shot just missed the target.

In the 7th minute a Josef Micallef free-kick finished just high over the bar with Naxxar gradually sharing the proceedings and were close through Andy Bartolo and Junior Sank.

At the other end the Naxzar goalkeeper David Vella brought off difficult saves to deny Stephen Camilleri and Matthew Muscat with Naxxar coming back through a strong shot by Adrian Fenech which was deflected by Chris Gauci to a corner-kick.

On the stroke of half-time Mgarr went close through Simon Mizzo whose low shot just missed the target.

Three minutes into the second period, the Naxxar goalkeeper David Vella brought off a fine save off a shot by Simon Mizzi. Gradually Naxxar started pushing forward with the Mgarr goalkeeper Kevin Ellul bringing off an excellent save to stop Andy Bartolo.

Then a good move between Mark Deguara and Andrew Catania ended with a Joe Mercieca shot which finished just wide and later on efforts by Adrian enech and Junior Sank just missed the target.

Mgarr were close on two occasions through Josef Micallef and in injury-time Mgarr were again denied on two occasions by Vella who saved off attempts by Steve Aquilina and Simon Mizzi.

Zebbug-Gozo 1-1

The first period proved to be a balanced affair with Zebbug going very close early on through Errol Cachia whose volley was blocked by Jonathan Xuereb.

In the 10th minute the Gozitan striker John Camilleri shot at goal with Pace bringing off a difficult save and in the 23rd minute the Zebbug keeper was again on hand to save off Brian Meilaq.
