Luxol are one of the oldest clubs affiliated to the Malta Basketball Association (MBA). As from this season the MBA thought of introducing the Club Day to give each the exposure the clubs deserve with the sporting public particularly basketball followers.
Next Sunday 2 November four Luxol teams out of the eight participating in the national competitions will be in action. Two under 15 teams and both male and female senior team will play.
Luxol was founded on the 25th January 1966 by Joseph Falzon and John Tabone and they participated in all senior competitions and won various honours that the local scene offers.
Throughout the 42 years the male sector won 11 championships, 14 KO competitions, six times the MBA Shield, six occasions the Super Cup, two times the Louis Borg Cup and once the Super 5 Cup. The female sector also left its imprint by winning six Championships, six KO competitions, the super cup once, three times the MBA Shield and the Louis Borg Cup once. The junior teams also won various competitions.
This day will all be dedicated to the Luxol Club and nursery players and parents together with the rest of the teams not in action, are expected to attend for this day. MBA together with the Luxol Club are inviting ex-players and ex-committee members to attend during the day.
The day will come to an end with the match of the week where the Luxol senior male team will play Compleet SW in an MBA Shield game.
