‘Noble’ Weddings souvenirs

From Mr J. Abela Fitzpatrick

Traditionally, a wedding souvenir is given to guests by the bride and groom to show their appreciation for the gift received. This has become another expensive item that is added to the list of things that must be done when organising a wedding, always keeping in mind the standards reached by other spouses in this regard.

Some are placed in showcases in remembrance of the wedding, while others are simply thrown away or given to children to play with. We were recently presented with a small pouch containing a rosary with 10 beads as a wedding souvenir. This can used everyday when carried in one’s pocket.

What a ‘noble wedding souvenir’ to remind one to pray daily for the giver and not least to say the rosary or at least part of it! There are many moments during the day when one reaches into one’s pocket or empties it back home; that is the time when one is reminded of this beautiful phrase – “the link between heaven and earth”, as described by our Holy Mother.
