The Bank of Valletta’s L-Istrina Campaign kicked-off for yet another exciting charity marathon on Wednesday, to culminate in a live broadcast on all Maltese television stations from noon till midnight on Saturday, 27 December.

The campaign was launched in Gozo at the Ninu Cremona Boys Junior Lyceum and G. Agius de Soldanis Girls Junior Lyceum in Victoria, under the patronage of the wife of the President, Mary Fenech Adami in the presence of Jack Thewma, manager Gozo Branch at Bank of Valletta, and Edmond Tabone from the Public Broadcasting Services Ltd. This was followed by a visit to the Mellieha Primary School where BOV was represented by John Soler, chief officer, credit at Bank of Valletta.

As many as 5,000 piggy banks will be distributed during the campaign in classrooms which will involve over 70,000 students in government, church and private schools in Malta and Gozo. The campaign helps raise awareness among the younger generations about the needs of other people in the community.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Bank of Valletta is teaming up with the L-Istrina fund-raising campaign to organise what has become an established event for the public who follow and participate enthusiastically throughout the charity campaign. The Piggy Bank Campaign has become an integral part of the L-Istrina team’s efforts.
