Next month we will have the opportunity to watch the la crème of the participants in the nine-ball competition, better known as the Mosconi Cup, only thanks to the organisers, known mostly for snooker events, Snooker Promotions (Malta) Limited. This is a golden opportunity for all local followers who watch the European players competing against American opposition. The five players comprising the European team will have among others, Malta ace Tony Drago, a German, an Englishman, a Dutchman and one of the top personalities in the game in Finland. The American team is not yet fully formed.

One has to mention the fact that although the Americans have an edge on the number of winnings in the competition, currently the European team is the holder of this coveted cup, held ultimately in America, with Drago being the captain of such a team.

Informed sources said that the bookings for next December’s event are being taken at a steady fast rate. 90 per cent of the bookings till now are made by foreigners, hailing from countries where such competition has a fair amount of popularity.

Apart from the touristic point of view, which is certainly appealing and demanding in winter, one also encourages enthusiasts of the game to attend and watch our talented snooker player, Tony Drago, who at one point in time, was even in the eighth position in worldwide professional snooker rankings, and watch a new interesting game for the first time on our shores.
