Where on earth did I in my letter of 10 November, refer to transport, and big cars and everything else Dr G. Debono (Sorry again, TMID, 15 November) hit at me for? In my letter, I referred to a lying government promising one thing and delivering another and Dr Debono goes off on a wild tangent to refer to pollution, asthma, walking and what not.
I am sorry of course to have offended his sensibilities by being “vulgar” and referring to a backside. Why is he shocked? It is just another piece of our anatomy.
But he of course took offence because he saw his government vilified. Justifiably vilified too. Or is it that he was offended at my reference to Minister Austin Gatt, who is, perhaps, his hero? Is Dr Debono the same person who used to defend wind energy with a Messianic fervour in the newspapers until some time ago? It is curious that his long-winded, robust answers to any criticism, no matter how mild, of wind energy waned quite suddenly, coincidentally at about the same time that the government decided to go for wind energy.
Would Dr Debono declare if he has any commercial, or financial, or other pecuniary interest in that industry – if it is the same Dr Debono of course? I do not think that in all his writings, he ever declared such an interest. Though I may be mistaken, of course. If he has declared an interest already, I apologise for doubting his motives.
