One edition of Bla Agenda was worth watching more than usual. What made it so interesting and original was the question that was proposed to the public watching at home who answered by means of an SMS. It was a very delicate question indeed.
Should paedophiles be registered in a special book?
According to the “silent” majority at large, paedophiles are nothing less than “monsters”, monsters who have lost sight of the fact that their perverse desires inflict unending pain upon their victims which will follow them throughout their whole life. They are definitely right – whatever abuse a child goes through will cause immeasurable suffering even with the passing of time.
One very relevant question, although the viewers had every right to sound out their opinion, is that the paedophile’s victims are not just those who satisfy his unnatural sexual desires but his family and children if he has any.
Is it fair for the paedophile’s children to share the same harassment as their father? SMSs on a popular television station are not enough to tackle this subject, nor are debates discussed by people whose sole motive is to make a paedophile live a life of isolation.
Because although one might recoil from the acts of a pernicious, there must be a lot of soul searching and analysing from capable people who have the capacity and vigilance to do what is right and what is not called vengeance.
